Eero Aarnio (1932) is a Finnish designer and professor. Aarnio is one of the great innovators of modern furniture design. Over the years, Eero Aarnio experimented with a wide range of different materials, including plastics, fibreglass and foam.
With these materials, Aarnio has created some of the most iconic Finnish designs, such as the Ball Chair (1962), Bubble Chair (1968) and Pastil Chair (1968). Eero Aarnios designs are characterised by a positive attitude and natural joy. Aarnio's creations are also exhibited at museums all over the world, including Victoria and Albert Hall Museum in London, MoMA in New York and Vitra Design Museum. Over the years, he has also won many prestigious, international design awards, such as Red Dot Design Award and Compasso d'Oro Design Award.
