Erik Magnussen (1940 - 2014) is an industrial designer with many talents. He has created everything from furniture and lamps to electronic equipment. He is best known for his legendary cylindrical Stelton-thermos, which is by far Stelton's best selling product. Originally Erik Magnussen trained as a ceramist from The Danish Design School, but he works equally well with materials such as wood, steel, porcelain and synthetic fibers. Magnussen's designs recognized for being thought through and durable, and he has received a host of prizes: Lunning Prize, Furniture Prize, several ID prizes, Ole Haslund scholarship, hofjuveler Michel's Jubilee Foundation and Knud V. Engelhardt Memorial Award.
Magnussen was chosen as designer of the year in 1983 by Dansk Designråd, a prestigious honor in Denmark, and his designs are now represented in museums worldwide.
