French designer Philippe Starck (1949) has earned rock star status since he emerged on design scene with his humoristic designs in the 1980s. Graduated in 1968, he started his own production in 1980. Starck had his breakthrough as an interior designer when he designed president Mitterand's private flat in the Elysé Palace. All this was a precursor for the attention Starck received with Hotel Costes in Paris, which was one of the 90s greatest design hotel successes. Philippe Starck collaborates with some of the most recognised design companies in the world. He works in design, architecture, interior design at any scale. Nothing is too small, too big, too dull, too eccentric, too ambitious or to silly for Starck.
